Analysis of counter measures

We have noted a great increase in the last few years in illegal telephone(microphones, telephone lines…)

Thanks to its equipment and personnel skills, GBI has specially developed its detecting ability, employing such means as:

• Omni-directional microphone linked to the telephone line which enable someone at a distance to listen from any outside line
• Recorder, turned on or off
• Omni directional wire microphones
• Omni directional microphones on the mains
• Infrared or ultra sound ambient transmitting microphones on portable radio
• Telephone transmitter on carrier radio or infrared
• Telephone interception by mains
• Interception of fax transmissions
• Portable tape recorder
• Remote control for all these devices
• Acoustic ducts

• The radio frequency spectrum is systematically and meticulously checked with a spectrum analyser and field measurer (800 Khz up to around1.2 Gzh)
• The search for infrared radiation is done with a light intensifier which "sees" infrared.
• The electrical network "sector" of 220 v is tested with a carrier current detector between 20Khz and 1.5Mhz.
• A search for ultrasonic transmitters is done with an ultrasonic probe.
• A sweep of radio frequencies is implemented in order to detect any transmitter device.
• False ceiling, furniture, window box, safes, casings, objects, decorations, skirting, are all inspected with an electronic components detector, to detect any electronic device that might have been hidden in them.
• Telephone lines are electrically checked and tests are made, on both busy lines and disconnected lines: by voltmeter and mains current detector on telephone line; and then disconnected at each end by capacity meter and ohmmeter.

These interventions are - by their nature - very specific, and therefore need the implementation of very sophisticated means in order to cover everything and not to miss any trap installed. Further details of these operations cannot be mentioned here for confidentiality reasons concerning the method of our operations.
